Tomorrow When the War Began

Tomorrow When the War Began is the begging of an amazing and shocking journey that a group of teenage students have to endure. After they return from a short camping trip in the bushes up the river they realise they have came back to hell. Realising that there old lives are gone they have to hide out. The plot of the story is an invading country takes over Australia. Starting with Cobblers Bay they roll in their tanks and march in there soldiers all over the country side. Ellie and her band of friends decide they aren't just going to sit there and hide under a rock until this all blows over, they decide to be active and become guerrillas. I really like this book for a lot of reasons, for starters is Australian so I understand the strange language they use and also I like the idea of kids not taking adults to think of them as babies. That is the reason I like books about child spies and kids who take charge. I strongly recommend this book to strong readers like you (ms. Patrice) because it has a really good plot line and has seat edging suspense.

Flight 29 Down

This book based on a hit television series in 2007 is a great book. I started reading because I saw it at the shops and remembered I had seen the show once. I decided to read it as a quick fun read. After I started it I couldn't put it down. When I finished the book I realised that there are 6 more but I cannot find any of them. I began watching the TV show one Friday afternoon and it took me into their world. Their world is a bunch of kids and an adult crash on a deserted island somewhere in the pacific (supposably near Guam). They need to survive and wait for rescue while the pilot and three of the children go inland to try to find civilization. They have little food and water and they argue about everything. Each person keeps a video diary to tell their side of the story. After the competition between the two wannabe leaders (Nathan and Daley) die down they found an underground spring. That sparked hope and they began to build their lives there. They build shelter, find food, make fire and much more. I think that they are very clever especially the little genius called lex. I love this book and it is a great short read.

Scorpia Rising- Anthony Horowitz

Well I finally finished the Alex Rider series and all I have to say is wow. The series has inspired me to become a great reader and because of Horowitz I am now a read-a-holic. I started Alex Rider series a long time ago before we came to Vietnam but it was way to hard for me because I was a terrible reader. From the start of the academic year I have read all 9nine and now have finished. Scorpia Rising was very well written and probably one of my favourite ones of the whole series. It was written in two parts, from Scorpias view and from Alex's view. I was breath taken when there are changes that effect the way I see the whole series and how I will see certain people. Very important people die and never comeback even though I was in doubt that they died initially. If I ever read any of the other Alex Rider books I will not read them like I originally did because I know the secrets behind people. Alex Rider is lured into a trap by a new Scorpia member who intentionally wants to mentally torture him before blaming him, a British spy, for the assassination of the Head of State in Egypt, ruining the American-British alliance. After Alex re-meets with his genetically cloned twin, Julius Grief, Alex lost all sense of pity and killed many people in cold blood. Alex is described by Sabina's dad as having death in his eyes and the need to kill. I think that Scorpia Rising has to be one of the best books I have ever read and I am devastated to see the end.

Snakehead

I have completed the 7th book of the Alex Rider series in under four days. This 388 page book was soo suspensful that I read for over 4 hours each day and completed it. The book went the England Autralia Indonesia and bangkok. His Asian spy tour took him through boat rides, living spare part camps and Bangkok street fights. It started out with him landing near australia and getting picked up by an American boat. he accepted a mission to go undercover as an Afgan boy and infiltrate the Snakehead. His godfather, his partner, helped him through it all but then at the end turned to be a traitor and had been the one who places the bomb on Alexs' parents plane. Scorpia returned and planed to destroy the G8 summit discussing poverty along with half of Australia Alongside it. Alex stopped the bomb being detonated on the Tectonic plate border which would of cause a Tsunami. The Alex Rider series has really changed my thinking of how i read and has made me want to read more of it and others like it. I am planning to read Cherub, Maximum ride, Hunger Games, Tommorrow when the War Began and some other series. I really love reading Alex Rider and I am sad that it is going to end.

ARK Angel

I have finished yet another Alex Rider in a very small amount of time. I started this 330 page book about 4 days ago and already finished it. ARK Angel is the 6th novel in the adventourous series. It is about Alex Rider- a fourteen year old boy- got shot near the heart. After being in hospital he gets himself tangled with one of the worst terrorist groups on the earth. He ends of saving a Russian billionaires son and gets invited on a three week holiday to the Caribbean. He uncovers the truth of the Russian billionair called Dervin who is in leauge with the Russian Mafia and a bunch of other large terrorist groups. He plans to knock the first space hotel- that he created with help from the british- into Washington and destroy the city, along with all his permanant records held in the Pentagon. He launches a rocket that is unstoppable after the island is taken by the CIA. Alex is sent into space on a second rocket and had to move the bomb to a different place in the hotel so that it wont plumet towards Washington. Alex encounters the head of Force Three and has a non gravity battle in the hotel. After allowing the sun to blind his opponent and stab him the man dies. Alex succedes and falls back into the ocean near Australia. I am eager to find out how the next book starts and i wonder what his mission will be. I really like the series and i am  going to read everyone of the books.

Man vs Beast

I have finished yet another CHERUB book called Man vs Beast. this is the 6th book of the series and is about  a animal protesting group that protest for the rights of animals. Like every other book in the CHERUB series this is very well written and i cant put it down. I have to admitt the first few chapters took me around two weeks to read but after that i read it really fast and got into it. CHERUB is based on a young boy who works for a branch of MI5 in England. This special agency called CHERUB specilizes in under 17 year old agents and use them to their advantage. No one ever excepects a child to be spying on them. James, Kyle and Lauren are sent into stop the destruction caused by the AFM (Animal Freedom Movement) and AFA (Animal Freedom Army). They are working with the starter of the zebra allience (a peaceful admil protsting group) wh wants to get them selves into positive light again. After the kiddnapping of a very famous television cheff. Kyle and James have to save the cheff from having to drink his own washing product   (which is posonous) and get him to saftey. Cherub is one of my two favourite series, next to Alex Rider. I love books that are about young spies and that have such seat edging suspense that you cant put the book down. I already am looking for the next one of this exdrodinary seires, The Fallen. I want to read the rest of these series and even the branch series, Henderson Boys and Peoples Rebublic.

Scorpia

He died....At the end of this fantastic book he dided, ashame i know that he cant die because there are more books but then agan... how can he die? This awesome book called SCORPIA is part of a series called Alex Rider written by Anthony Horowaitz. Anthony Horowitz is an amazing author and easily got be hooked to his series after the third book. The series is about a 14 year old boy that is sucked into the world of guns, gadgets and spies. He gets recruited by the Secret Agency called MI6, the british CIA. His uncle who had lived with him and died recently had also worked for them and was a fenomanal agent. Again Alex had mannaged to get tanggled in a mess with one of the most dangerous terrorist group in the world and joined them, just like his father. SCORPIA was a group of restless murderers and masterminds who assasinated targets for large amounts of money. There most recent request was to foil the treaty between America and England. Alex is thrown into the middle of a nation wide crisis where thousands of childrens lives are at risk. SCORPIA is a great book and one of the best out of the Alex Rider series. I strongly advise that everyone should read this.

Devine Madness

1. What made you choose this book in the first place?

I have read the first 4 books of the CHERUB series and really loved them so when i saw this at the bookstore i picked it right up.

2. How did you like the novel? Was it too long or too short?

The book was a great read and the perfect length i was looking for, around 400 pages is perfect for me because its not too short too read in an hour but not too long that u start to get bored with it. It wasn a really intresting book and i want to read the next ones.

3. If you could meet one person in the novel who would it be and why?

If i had to meet one charecter it would probably be james because he is really cool and good a jodo. His also funny and has a great sense of humor.

4. What was the funniest part in the book?

The funniest part in the book was when James climbed down into the sewer to escape the ark and swore to quite Cherub when he was out of there, and then one of the maintence men helped him and asked why didn't he swich on the light and the drainage pipe instead of wading through knee deep sewage in pitch black.

5. Would you ever read it again?

I have already read it twice because it's soo good and would hapily read it a third time.

6. Why do you like the CHERUB series so much?

I really like the cherub series because tehy are fun to read and i found out that it sucks you into the stroyline. For example, when i was reading the really sad part in the book i felt really bad like i wanted to sleep my life away and i was really depressed for no reason, but when the happy parts come i get really excited and adrenaline rushes through my body so i can't put it down.

The Killing

The killing is another book in the cherub series written by robert muchamore. It is a stroy about a young boy who is ophaned after the death of his mother. He is recruited to join a super secret agency called CHERUB that specializes with under 17 year old spys. James, who had been recurited for cherub earlier in the novel, is put under a lot of pressure when he lashes out at a poor young agent who has been through alot. On top of being ditched by his friends and sister, Lauren, he was made to do punishment laps and clean the nission control centre everyday for 3 months. Luckily for james he got assaigned to a mission in a criminal village called Palm Hill. His mission was too infiltrate a suspected drug lords family with an older CHERUB member and uncover evidence of his crimes. After a few weeks into the mission, links start connecting a high ranking police officer and the drug lord. Looking deeper into the connections between them, they start to uncover more links to a bank robery that had taken place a few moths earlier. One of their members who helped in the robbery was killed soon after the robbery. The boys start to doubt it was accidently. After talking to witnesses and family members of the dead boys family they had enough proof to know that the police officer murded him but the problem was..they didn't have enough evidence. After creating a scheme too turn the two murders against each other they brung in some more CHERUB agents and officials to deal with the more serious mission. After turning the two men against each other they recorded their conversation inwhich they clearly stated that they were the ones who murdered the poor boy. They both got sentanced to life in Jail.

Skeleton key by Anthony Horowitz

Skeleton key by Anthony Horowitz, is part of the famous Alex Rider series, it is a phenomanal book about a teenage boy who has somehow become tangled with a superspy agency, M16. He faces life and death situations. Guns, sharks, assasins, nuclear bombs and much more, are just everyday problems for this young spy. He does things that adults cannot do, like stop the world from an international terrorist  and stand face to face with pure evil . It all starts again at the Wimbeldon tennis tournement in England when he knocks out and captures a member of the bloodthirsty Chinese gang who are trying to rig the Wimbledon Tennis Tournament to get 30 million dollars. He takes out their spy and sets off a chain reaction of distress. The Chinese send men after him to kill him but they fail. While Alex is in hiding he gets assigned a mission to go to Cayo Esqueleto to spend two weeks on the beach along with friends from the CIA. M16 and the CIA lie to him and say it was a simple survelliance mission when their real objective is to find and destroy and the nuclear bomb that is supposedly on Skeleton Key. The superspy figures this out quickly and his "mum and dad", two CIA agents who are pretending to be his parents, have to tell him. Carver, his fake dad, trusts him enough because he was saved by Alex when a salesman was about to kill him and throw him into the ocean, but on the other hand Troy, his fake mom, believes its not safe for a mere child to know and do such dangerous things. Persuaded by Carver, his "parents" tell him everything, about the nuclear bomb, the inpossible to reach stronghold and the Russian General Sarov. Will Alex Rider and the two special CIA agents be enough to save the world from a nuclear disaster?
